Switching from Huckleberry: How to Export and Import Data

Posted

A parent in a nursing chair glances at a phone while a baby sleeps on their back in a clear cot beside her.

If you are moving from Huckleberry, you can bring your baby's history with you. Huckleberry emails you a link to a CSV file of everything you logged for a child, and Wake Wise imports that file for free. Your sleeps, feeds and nappies come across, and Wake Wise shows you a preview before it saves anything.

Key Takeaways

  • In Huckleberry, tap your child's profile icon, scroll down, tap Export tracking data as CSV, then tap Got it! Email it. The download link in the email works for 24 hours.
  • Huckleberry makes one file per child. Wake Wise tracks one baby, so export the file for the child you are tracking.
  • In Wake Wise, go to Settings, then Your Data, then Import from Huckleberry. Importing is free, and so is sleep tracking.
  • Huckleberry files don't record a time zone. The preview starts with your phone's time zone, and you can change it before you import.
  • Sleeps, breastfeeds, bottle feeds and wet and dirty nappies come across. Pumping, growth, medicine, temperature, baths, solids, tummy time, potty and dry nappies don't.

Why Parents Move from Huckleberry

Huckleberry has a free tier for tracking sleep, feeding and more. Its sleep predictions (SweetSpot), widgets and live Lock Screen updates are part of its paid Plus and Premium memberships, which renew automatically.

Some parents want a Huckleberry alternative that is smaller and mainly about sleep and wake windows. Others would rather pay once than keep a subscription running.

Huckleberry does a lot that Wake Wise doesn't, so check before you switch. Huckleberry syncs across several caregivers' devices, handles more than one child, runs on Android, and tracks growth, medicine and solids. Plus and Premium add an Apple Watch app, and Premium also adds sleep plans and an AI parenting chat. If you rely on any of those, Wake Wise may not be the right fit.

What Wake Wise Includes

Wake Wise is a baby sleep tracker for iPhone, built around wake windows. Sleep tracking, the Lock Screen timer, starting and stopping a sleep with Siri, white noise and importing from Huckleberry are free. You can see your imported feeds and nappies on the free version too.

Pro adds the next-sleep estimate, bedtime reminders, logging and editing feeds and nappies, widgets, weekly summaries, CSV export and the red light. You can buy it as a subscription or as a one-off Lifetime purchase. See everything Pro includes.

You don't need a Wake Wise account. When you are signed in to iCloud, your records sync through the private iCloud database linked to your Apple Account.

How to Export Your Data from Huckleberry

Steps 1 to 3 come from Huckleberry's help centre. Huckleberry makes one file per child, so export the file for the child you are tracking in Wake Wise.

  1. Open Huckleberry and tap your child's profile icon in the menu bar.
  2. Scroll down and tap Export tracking data as CSV.
  3. Tap Got it! Email it. Huckleberry emails a download link to the address on your account.
  4. Open the email from Huckleberry on your iPhone and tap the download link within 24 hours. If the email doesn't arrive, check your spam folder. If the link has expired, request a new one in Huckleberry.
  5. If Safari asks whether you want to download the file, tap Download. Safari saves the CSV file to the Downloads folder in the Files app, usually in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone. If the link opens in another browser, use that browser's Share or Download option to save the file to the Files app.

Don't open and save the file in Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets first. Wake Wise checks that the file is an untouched Huckleberry export, and a re-saved copy can change the dates so Wake Wise can't read them.

How to Import Huckleberry Data into Wake Wise

  1. Open Wake Wise and tap the Settings tab.
  2. Tap Your Data.
  3. Under Import, tap Import from Huckleberry. The file picker opens.
  4. Choose the CSV file you downloaded from Huckleberry. To find it, tap Browse, then open the folder you saved it to, usually Downloads in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone. If you closed the picker, tap Choose File.
  5. Check the time zone. Huckleberry files have no time zone, so Wake Wise reads every entry in the zone you choose, starting with your phone's. If you logged in Huckleberry somewhere else, tap Time zone and pick that one.
  6. Check the counts under To import: sleeps (split into naps and night sleeps), breastfeeds, bottle feeds, and wet and dirty nappies, with the dates of the first and last entry. Anything left out is listed under Skipped, with the reason.
  7. Tap Import. Wake Wise saves nothing until you do. On iOS 26 and later, Import is the tick at the top right.
  8. When you see Import complete, tap Done. On iOS 26 and later, Done is also a tick at the top right.

Your imported history then shows in the log like entries you added yourself. With Pro, it also feeds into the next-sleep estimate, widgets and reminders.

What Comes Across and What Doesn't

Wake Wise imports:

  • Sleeps, with their start and end times. Huckleberry doesn't label naps and night sleeps, so Wake Wise marks each one using the Night Starts and Night Ends times in Settings.
  • Breastfeeds, with the side: left, right or both, taken from Huckleberry's side timers.
  • Bottle feeds, with the volume in ml or oz. Wake Wise doesn't keep whether the bottle was formula or breast milk.
  • Wet and dirty nappies. A nappy logged as both becomes one wet and one dirty. Wake Wise doesn't keep the nappy's colour.
  • The notes you added to these entries.

The preview lists everything else under Skipped, with the reason:

  • Pumping, growth, medicine, temperature, baths, tummy time, solids and potty, shown as Not supported
  • Dry nappies
  • A sleep that was still running when you exported
  • Anything with a start time in the future
  • Anything that overlaps an entry of the same type already in Wake Wise
  • Anything you already imported, if it is still in Wake Wise
  • Any row Wake Wise couldn't read

Frequently Asked Questions

Is importing from Huckleberry free in Wake Wise?

Yes. Importing doesn't need Pro, and you can see the imported feeds and nappies in your log on the free version. Adding or editing feeds and nappies needs Pro.

Why does Wake Wise ask for a time zone?

Huckleberry's file lists times like 2026-03-13 19:32 without saying which time zone they are in. Wake Wise reads the whole file in the zone you choose. If you were in one place the whole time, your phone's time zone is usually right.

What happens if I import the same file twice?

Wake Wise skips the entries it has already imported, as long as they are still in Wake Wise, even if you pick a different time zone the second time. If you export a newer file from Huckleberry later, only the new entries are added. If you deleted an imported entry, importing the file again can add it back.

Wake Wise says my file isn't an untouched Huckleberry export. What now?

This usually means the file was opened and saved in another app, which changes how the dates are written. Export it from Huckleberry again, download the new file, and choose it in Wake Wise without opening it anywhere else first.

Will my Huckleberry history change the next-sleep estimate?

With Pro and the age-based wake window method, it can. That estimate starts from your baby's age. Once there are at least six daytime wake windows from the last 14 days, it uses those too, and imported sleeps count like sleeps you log yourself. If your Huckleberry export covers the last two weeks, the estimate can use it straight away. It is an estimate, so follow your baby's cues.
